Dear Canaan EM’ers and friends,
How would you feel if Canaan’s English and Youth Ministry suddenly vanished? I’m guessing that a few of us wouldn’t notice. Others would feel a little sad and move on to another church. Yet others would be devastated. It depends on how deeply connected we are to this church.
How would you feel if Jesus also vanished? Some of us wouldn’t really notice. Yet others would be devastated. It really depends on how deeply connected you are to him.
Imagine Christmas without Jesus or Canaan. That would be a “blue” Christmas, wouldn’t it? It could have happened with Jesus. It could happen with Canaan’s English and Youth Ministry.
Without Mary and Joseph, Jesus may not have survived infancy. Without your prayers, service and dedication to, and love for our church, Canaan’s English and Youth Ministry will not have a future. God didn’t need Joseph and Mary to protect his Son. God doesn’t need us to sustain our English and Youth Ministry. But his preferred M.O. is for his people to bear witness to the gospel. Our English and Youth ministry has a unique place in God’s plan. It is God’s gift to us. So let us treasure it as much as we treasure Jesus.
So let’s not have any “blue” Christmases! Love Jesus and love his church!
- Let us warmly embrace our returning college students during the Winter break.
- Let us reach out to those who may not have many family or friends in the Bay Area.
- Let us welcome all opportunities to share and be the Good News of Jesus this season!
Have a joyous Christmas everyone! See you Sunday!
